In 1986, several legendary 80s artists were on their way to play Doritos Music Fest, but their buses disappeared and we never heard from them again, until now. To promote Doritos reboot of Doritos 3D, another dimension of tortilla chip, we helped them fittingly throw a concert in another dimension.
Starring Corey Hart, The Go-Go’s, Soft Cell, and a surprise guest in Charli XCX, this show ended up being one of the coolest music videos I’ve seen since I stopped watching TRL.
To be clear: this is the rare item in my portfolio I didn’t come up with the idea for. Another agency had the thought but our clients at Netflix didn’t think they could execute such an undertaking. Observatory stepped in and a few creatives including myself wrote out the entire run of show and script. If you listen carefully, during the commercial breaks you can hear yours truly as a 90’s Doritos ad voiceover guy. They had me say stuff like “Now with even more cheese!” or something like that. Huge thanks need to go out to CD Stevie Laux and producer Chris Totushek as they drove this bad boy forward.
